Oshokaju Orchards is located the centrally located Tendo City in Yamagata Prefecture. The land on the eastern side of the city along National Route 48 is rocky and nicely irrigated. This region is ideal for fruit production, due to the temperature difference between the day and night in the valley’s special climate and the four distinct seasons here. Yamagata Prefecture boasts the largest yield of cherries and LaFrance pears and also produces peaches, grapes, and apples.

Cherries are best picked usually for around 30 days, but the greenhouse at Oshokaju Orchards has adjusted the growing temperature to extend this period to 60 days.

You can also relax at the orchard’s lounge and cafe after enjoying fruit picking.

Farm Information Oshokaju Orchards produces cherries, peaches, grapes, pears, and apples. From June to late-November, visitors can pick and eat these fruits. In addition to fresh produce, wine and other original products, as well as candy, can be enjoyed at the Oshokaju Orchards. Within the grounds, there is also a cafe where visitors can eat soft-serve ice cream and parfaits made with seasonal fruit.
